Releases from the Perkins Library Recording Studio – Perkins School for the Blind
The studio has been busy over the last year or so as we welcomed back our narrators after the COVID shutdown. After a few quiet years in book production, we are finally starting to produce new titles. Some of the books have been in production for well over three years now. Needless to say, we are very pleased to start getting them out to our patrons. You will find a wide variety of subject matter in the following titles, some recorded in our studio and some commercially produced.
Cozy Mysteries Equal Quick, Enjoyable Reads
There’s nothing like a cozy mystery for a book that’s quickly read and enjoyed. Here are several that fit that bill. The Loch Ness Papers By Paige Shelton Minotaur This book, released last year, is one of Paige Shelton’s Scottish Bookshop mysteries. Kansas-born Delaney Nichols works at The Cracked Spine (love that name) in Edinburgh and is planning a wedding to Tom Shannon, a local pub owner.
Sisters in Crime Celebrates 10 Years of the We Love Libraries Grant Program
A photo of the latest winners, librarians at Cook Memorial Public Library District in Libertyville, Illinois. It’s no mystery —Sisters in Crime loves libraries. This year, Sisters in Crime celebrates the tenth anniversary of its Doris Ann Norris We Love Libraries grant. Once a month for 10 years, Sisters in Crime has presented a $1,000 unrestricted grant to a U.S. or Canadian public or school library. How does this work? Why did this start?
Review | NetGalley
Review by Diane H, Reviewer Last updated on 05 Mar 2019 I Recommend This Book Yes The third Lobster Shack mystery, Drawn and Buttered, is another great cozy mystery. It’s Halloween in Mystic Bay Connecticut. A giant Lobzilla goes missing! Houses are broken into but nothing is taken! A witch is afoot! Someone is murdered (of course)! Allie is out of her ankle cast but cannot yet resume her ballerina life.
Cats Take Over Murder Mysteries
Of course, since I am a cat lover, it stands to reason I’d like this series. (Hey, I’m not a crazy cat-lady; I only have one of them!) I think a cat cafe would go over well in Moore County with all of the animal lovers we have here. On Daybreak Island, Maddie James and co-owner Ethan are opening House of Purrs, where up to 10 shelter cats are available for patrons to play and cuddle with, hoping that adoption will follow. As with most adoptions, applications are required and checked.
