What was your first job as a journalist?
Writing ads for a recruitment advertising company.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, I certainly have!
How is social media changing news?
It enables the news to be incredibly current, and you can see how people feel about it quickly as well.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Please write down what you are looking for and want to accomplish. I'm a words person - and I love it when people speak my language.

Who do you wish followed you?
People who have deep and meaningful things to say.
Why did you become a journalist?
I am good at seeing many perspectives and communicating them through the written word. I was lucky enough to be able to do it for a living.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes I did. I edited pieces and submitted a few of my own.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I wrote a piece on traveling to Grenada. It was one of the first where I organized the whole adventure, traveled alone, and wrote about it.
When's the best time to pitch you?
In the morning is usually best because I make it a habit to check my email at that time. The rest of the day is hit-or-miss.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That traveling is all that it looks like on Instagram.
