The temperature in Phoenix reached 110 degrees for the first time this year Sunday, June 13, and, for good measure, for the second time the day after. That's a bit later than usual. On average, Phoenix sees its first 110-degree day June 11. We had broken the 100-degree threshold early this year, on March 18, the earliest 100-degree day on record. But we were slower to hit 110 degrees. What can we expect for the rest of the summer?

Man injured in Avondale police shooting in Litchfield Park

June 4, 2026, 4:05 p.m. MT A man was injured in a shooting involving an Avondale police officer in Litchfield Park Thursday, June 4, authorities said. The shooting occurred in the area of Acacia Circle and Villa Nueva Drive, south and west of Camelback and Dysart roads, Avondale police said. No officers were injured in the shooting, police said. The man, whose name has not been released. was taken to a hospital for treatment. This is at least the 42nd police shooting in Arizona in 2026.
