This important analysis is one of the first to link a hard endpoint — access to kidney transplant wait-listing — with the growing workforce shortage of pediatric nephrologists. The investigators analyzed data from approximately 4,500 children with end-stage kidney disease in the United States and assessed time to transplant wait-listing period from 2016 to 2020. They stratified data according to pediatric nephrologist density by state into low-, moderate- and high-density groups.
