VICTORIA, Texas — A local nonprofit is getting a financial boost this week. Sparklight has awarded Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry, also known as VCAM, a $5,000 grant through its Charitable Giving Fund. According to Sparklight, the fund is designed to support local organizations that are making a difference in the communities they serve. WHARTON COUNTY, Texas — A man is behind bars after a traffic stop in Wharton County led to a major drug seizure. According to Wharton police, a stop along U.S. Highway 59 ended with officers seizing 43 kilos of cocaine within the city limits. Police, along with the Live Oak County Sheriff’s Office and the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Ricardo Hernandez of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was booked into the Wharton County Jail.
