DALLAS — The American Heart Association reports that while progress has been made in reducing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health disparities, Black communities in the United States still face a disproportionately higher risk of heart disease, stroke and hypertension. These gaps contribute to disproportionately high death rates, underscoring the urgent need for lifesaving intervention.

In the end, Dr. Ala Stanford and state Sen. Sharif Street said the conclusion of contest to win the Democratic primary for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District seat meant their work to improve the quality of life in the district meant their work was not over. State Rep. Chris Rabb won the race with 44% or 60,332 votes to finish ahead of Street with 29.5%, or 40,366 and Stanford with 24% or 32,940.
