At Old Orchard Beach High School in Orchard Beach, ME, librarian Michael Lewis uses zines to get more engagement from students and collaborate with teachers across subjects. The small DIY booklets allow students to express themselves and see and show their knowledge. “It’s a really great way to carry the things you’ve learned,” he says. “It’s a great way to show everybody what you’ve learned.” Lewis likes to join them when he can. “My favorite teacher was a chef I worked for,” says Lewis.
