ABSTRACT This study developed a tailored retention model for highly qualified healthcare professionals in South Africa’s pathology laboratories, using a mixed-methods approach that combined surveys, interviews, and management consultations across three provinces: Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Eastern Cape. The research examined how job characteristics, career anchors, satisfaction dimensions, and organizational commitment influence turnover intentions.
