Shimbo Pastory’s Biography

Shimbo Pastory is a Tanzanian Writer, Journalist, Editor and Poet who has worked and published with renowned local (Tanzanian) and international publications. For over two years he has been a Social Development columnist and correspondent for The Citizen Newspaper published in Tanzania.

Drawing from his diverse experience around the world, he writes widely about social issues like education, human empowerment, cultures and histories, climate issues, human rights, social emancipation, gender issues in the African context, inclusion, special groups, and advocacy for people with disabilities, among others.

He also writes on religious matters, often in Catholic publications, among others The Scottish Catholic Magazine (Glasgow, Scotland), Flourish Newspaper (Glasgow, Scotland), The Catholic Post (London, England), The Leader Catholic Newspaper (Imo, Nigeria), Kiongozi (Dar es Salaam Tanzania) and Tumaini Letu (Dar es Salaam, Tanzania).

Shimbo was for two seasons (2018 & 2019) one of the judges of the Daughters Destined for Purpose (DD4P) poetry competition in Zimbabwe. He was an editor for Writers Space Africa Magazine, Poetica Magazine, The Fountain Magazine and the Missionwide Magazines, at different times. He has published two books.
