1 Introduction Most proteins require a specific three-dimensional structure (conformation) to perform their biological function properly. However, under certain conditions, proteins can deviate from their native states and adopt distinct aggregated states, such as amyloid fibrils or oligomeric assemblies. These aggregates are believed to be associated with a variety of neurodegenerative disorders in humans and animals.
