Vanessa Colleran, 37, of Oxford, hadn’t heard of congenital cytomegalovirus until she was told something was wrong with her son in utero. He was born via emergency caesarean section at 27 weeks and diagnosed with cCMV. Tragically, he died of disease complications four months later, in 2017. Danielle Lavon, 40, of Billerica, learned of cCMV in 2022 after her third pregnancy when her son failed his newborn hearing test in one ear.
