Body Roundness Index and All-Cause Mortality in Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease: A Dual-Cohort Study
1 Introduction Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), the recently adopted nomenclature replacing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), affects approximately 38% of the global adult population, with prevalence projected to exceed 55% by 2040 [1, 2]. The transition to MASLD nomenclature emphasizes the central role of cardiometabolic dysfunction, requiring the presence of at least one cardiometabolic risk factor for diagnosis [1].
Genome-Wide Association Study and Identification of Candidate Genes for Intramuscular Fat Fatty Acid Composition in Ningxiang Pigs
3. Results 3.1. Descriptive Statistics for IMF and Fatty Acid Composition The statistical analysis results of IMF and 25 fatty acids are presented in Table S1. The IMF content in the longissimus dorsi of Ningxiang pigs was determined to be 3.65%. In the overall fatty acid distribution, MUFAs had the highest proportion at 41.88%, followed by SFAs at 39.35%, and PUFAs at 12.78%. Eleven fatty acids, including C22:6n-3, C17:1, and C15:0, were removed due to a sample size below 553 individuals (<80%).
A Comprehensive Genomic Analysis of Chinese Indigenous Ningxiang Pigs: Genomic Breed Compositions, Runs of Homozygosity, and Beyond
2.4. Genomic Characterization and Runs of Homozygosity Runs of homozygosity were identified in 2077 purebred Ningxiang pigs, which can provide information on their genetic diversity, inbreeding, and population structure. They are also useful for identifying regions of the genome subject to recent selective pressure and individuals at risk for genetic disorders or reduced fitness due to inbreeding. In total, we identified 66,746 ROH in 2077 Ningxiang pigs.
