From ‘Gift’ to gift: producing organic solvents from CO2 ‘Gift’ means ‘poison’ in German, which fits the situation of CO2 in our atmosphere from some points of view. Hence, the utilization and transformation of CO2 into highly value-added chemicals are like going from ‘Gift’ to gift and have attracted considerable attention from the chemical community. In this review, the latest advances in the field of production of commonly used organic solvents from CO2 are summarized and discussed.
