Five Things I Wish You Knew about Teens with Thinning Hair
We know that a lot of girls have it harder: There are girls who don’t have hair either due to medical conditions or medical treatments, and we are very grateful that we actually do have hair, and for the hair we have. Yet even though it’s not a medical condition, it’s not easy to be a teenager with hair getting thinner and thinner. It’s not helpful for people to tell us that it’s not such a big deal ‘cuz we’ll cover our hair one day, or that we should be grateful it’s not from medical treatments.
In the Bag - Mishpacha
“We have the l’chayim pictures,” she shrugged. “Why would I save extra junk?” I say she’s a cold fish, she says I’m a hoarder. Keeping the fax (remember faxes?) I sent my husband the Shabbos of his aufruf, my babies’ hospital bracelets, and the “gold” brooch my grandmother gave me in high school (those were all the rage pinned onto the lapels of our Shabbos coats) is not called hoarding. It means I have a heart. I’m nostalgic. Doesn’t it?
Five things I wish you knew about… BEING LEFT-HANDED
Being left-handed can be complex for frum Jews. (Men even more so than women, as tefillin can be a complicated affair!) Things like washing netilas yadayim or holding a lulav and esrog…. We always need to think twice before we do anything with our right hands, because our left hands are stronger and more dominant, making it the automatic hand that we use. Oh, and let’s not forget the Shabbos seudah or any other meal! Righties and lefties sitting next to one another is a recipe for disaster.

Introvert and extrovert is not about personality. It’s about the frequency and intensity of a person’s need for people and social interaction. That means you can be very friendly and maybe even outgoing, but extended social environments (like parties or chagigas) can be draining for you.

I don’t mind talking about my parents, but it doesn’t mean I’m an entertainment center if you’re curious or bored I don’t mind talking about my parents, but it doesn’t mean I’m an entertainment center if you’re curious or bored. Please understand that you’ve got to be close to me to ask personal questions! Imagine if we’re all sitting around schmoozing, and I asked you if your parents have a lot of disagreements — would you think that was appropriate?
Tall Guidepost - Mishpacha
Years ago, you crossed paths. It may have been a brief encounter, it may have been a relationship spanning years. In that meeting place, something changed. Her hands warmed your essence, left an imprint upon your soul. Seven writers sought out the women who changed them — and told them of the impact they’d had It’s not difficult for me to think of a person who has impacted my life.
On the Land of Our Fathers
For years, the Israeli government delayed reclaiming parts of Jewish-owned Chevron — including the market — out of fear of international retribution. Jews were initially forced from the land after the Chevron Riots of 1929 and then again in 1948. The new neighborhood will be located between Mearas Hamachpeilah and the Avraham Avinu neighborhood, and double the number of Jewish residents in the city.
