Introduction Our world faces ongoing sustainability challenges, such as environmental degradation and persistent social inequalities (George et al., 2016). Prior literature on the contribution of business to addressing sustainability challenges has often focussed on large firms (Kolk, Rivera-Santos and Rufín, 2018). At the same time, the entrepreneurial process has been hailed as a catalyst for the transition to a more ecologically and socially sustainable economy (Pacheco, Dean and Payne, 2010).
