INTRODUCTION The incidence of pulmonary complications during induction chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) ranges from 16.8% to 33%, with associated mortality rates reaching 25.1% to 38.3%.1, 2 Early diffuse lung injury, which typically occurs within the first 2 weeks, is primarily attributable to non-infectious factors, including leukaemic infiltration, pulmonary haemorrhage, pulmonary oedema, differentiation syndrome and transfusion-related acute lung injury(TRALI).
