A Novel Device to Slow Myopia in Children

Things are looking up for myopia. In September 2025, a first-of-its-kind medical device — glasses — to prevent pediatric myopia was granted marketing authorization by the FDA. In a 2-year randomized controlled trial, the Essilor Stellest eyeglass lenses slowed the progression of myopia in children compared with control glasses. Myopia is blurred vision at distance due to refractive error.
