Comparing Pneumonia Risks of Budesonide with Fluticasone Among Patients with Asthma in Hong Kong: A Territory-Wide Retrospective Study

The pneumonia risks for patients with moderate to severe asthma were not significantly different between those prescribed BUD or fluticasone (FF/FP) in this study. This was consistent across comparisons between BUD and FF/FP, as well as in subgroup analyses comparing BUD versus FF and BUD versus FP. This aligns with the limited existing evidence in this area [3], which contrasts with findings in COPD [5,6,7, 9], where differences in pneumonia risks between drug classes have been reported.
