1 Introduction In nature, a vast array of small-molecule natural products occur as dimers, which are formed via the linkage of two monomeric scaffolds through diverse coupling reactions, including esterification, amidation, etherification, cycloaddition, and analogous transformations [1−4]. A growing body of evidence demonstrates that the biogenesis of numerous dimers is not reliant on enzymatic catalysis but rather proceeds spontaneously under ambient natural conditions.
