Prognostic significance of peripheral immunity after thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke: a retrospective study stratified by early post-EVT leukocyte count
Abstract Background: The prognostic relevance of early peripheral immune profiles after successful endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) remains incompletely characterized. We evaluated whether associations between lymphocyte-subset percentages and 90-day functional outcome differed according to early post-EVT white blood cell (WBC) count.
Mechanisms and safety assessment of support tilting for arch crossing pipelines in saline-alkali environments
Abstract To address the 3°-4° tilting issue of an arch crossing gas pipeline support structure in a saline-alkali wetland environment, a comprehensive quality evaluation of the pipeline and welds was performed using multiple non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, including high-precision ultrasonic thickness measurement, magneto strictive ultrasonic guided wave, radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, and magnetic particle testing.
Clinically informed preoperative risk stratification for MRI-defined non gross-total resection in nonfunctioning pituitary neuroendocrine tumors: a single-center internal validation study
Abstract Introduction: Preoperative estimation of non-gross-total resection (non-GTR), as defined on early postoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), may support patient counseling and postoperative surveillance planning after surgery for nonfunctioning pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (NF-PitNETs). We evaluated whether a clinically informed, interpretable preoperative modeling strategy improved risk estimation compared with a reference strategy.
Elevation of JAML Promotes Diabetic Kidney Disease by Modulating Podocyte Lipid Metabolism
Main text (Cell Metabolism 32, 1052–1062.e1–e8; December 1, 2020) In the original version of this article, the authors inadvertently misused the representative immunofluorescence image of WT-1 (green) for the Cre+/Jaml+/+ control group (left panel) in Figure 2E during the figure compilation. This error does not affect the results or conclusions of the paper. The authors sincerely apologize for any confusion that the oversight may have caused.
Gα q activation of free fatty acid receptor 4 suppresses metabolic dysfunction by disrupting Nr1h3-PPARγ axis
Abstract Maintenance of glucose and lipid homeostasis is essential for metabolic health, and its dysregulation, driven by complex gene-environment interactions-underlies various metabolic disorders. Free fatty acid receptor 4 (FFAR4) has been proposed to link dietary signals with genetic metabolic predisposition, yet the precise mechanisms underlying the pathophysiological function of FFAR4 remain elusive and lack of the highly selective FFAR4 agonists.
Component-based CT radiomics for preoperative differentiation of well-differentiated and dedifferentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma
Abstract Introduction: Preoperative distinction between well-differentiated liposarcoma (WDLPS) and dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) remains difficult on conventional imaging. We evaluated whether CT attenuation-defined regional radiomics provides additional discriminatory information beyond whole-tumor radiomics and simple quantitative CT measurements.
Cause-informed framework for risk-targeted methane emission mitigation in oil and gas operations
Abstract Addressing methane emissions from the oil and gas supply chain has emerged as a key near-term mitigation target. The past decade of research has improved our understanding of methane emissions, with a primary focus on quantifying emissions without describing their underlying causal mechanisms.
Fatty acid β-oxidation-associated prognostic model in gastric cancer and functional validation of IL-6 as a potential therapeutic target
Abstract Gastric cancer (GC) poses a significant health threat, and alterations in Fatty acid β-oxidation (FAO) may influence its progression. However, the precise mechanisms underlying this association remain unclear. FAO-related genes were analyzed using transcriptomic datasets from databases of GEO and TCGA. Totally 160 FAO-associated genes were identified, and a risk scoring model was subsequently established to stratify patients into groups of low- and high-risk.

Cooler Arctic surface temperatures simulated by climate models are closer to satellite-based data than the ERA5 reanalysis - Communications Earth & Environment
Abstract Many climate models simulate near-surface air temperatures that are too low in the Arctic compared to the observation-based ERA5 reanalysis data, a bias that was noted in the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change Sixth Assessment Report (IPCC AR6). Here we present a high-resolution, satellite-derived dataset of near-surface air temperatures for the Arctic sea-ice region (1982–2020).

Estimating the Significance of the Added Skill from Initializations: The Case of Decadal Predictions
Keywords: Statistical techniques; Forecast verification/skill; Climate models 1. Introduction There is an increasing interest in decadal climate predictions. Successful predictions on daily and seasonal time scales depend crucially on correct modeling of internal variability and therefore require that the model system is initialized with realistic conditions.

OPINION | Using natural gas as a climate solution will become a climate problem | CBC News
This column is an opinion by academic researchers Sara Hastings-Simon, Arvind Ravikumar and Shuting Yang. For more information about CBC's Opinion section, please see the FAQ. A commonly heard claim from oil and gas boosters is that Canada should export more liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a climate solution by replacing coal as a source of power generation in other countries.
Global liquefied natural gas expansion exceeds demand for coal-to-gas switching in paris compliant pathways
Natural gas (NG) accounted for about a quarter of global primary energy demand in 2017 [1]. The rise of NG as a major fuel source in electricity generation has led to significant reductions in carbon emissions by displacing generation from high-emitting coal plants [2–10]. For every unit of electricity generated, NG power plants emit roughly half as much carbon dioxide (CO2) as coal [11].

Global Liquefied Natural Gas Industry Expansion May Imperil Paris Agreement Temperature Targets
Downloads Download Preprint Supplementary Files Supplementary File Authors Shuting Yang , Arvind P Ravikumar , Sara Hastings Simon Abstract The shift from coal to natural gas (NG) in the power sector has led to significant reductions in carbon emissions, earning NG the moniker of a bridge-fuel. The cheap NG that led to this shift is now fueling a global expansion in liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure, particularly in the US, Canada, and Australia.

Sea ice thickness and recent Arctic warming
The climatic impact of increased Arctic sea ice loss has received growing attention in the last years. However, little focus has been set on the role of sea ice thickness, although it strongly determines surface heat fluxes. Here, ensembles of simulations using the EC-Earth atmospheric model (IFS) are performed and analyzed to quantify the atmospheric impacts of Arctic sea ice thickness change since 1982 as revealed by the sea ice model assimilation GIOMAS.
The Relationship between Cell Number, Division Behavior and Developmental Potential of Cleavage Stage Human Embryos: A Time-Lapse Study
Day 3 cleavage embryo transfer is routine in many assisted reproductive technology centers today. Embryos are usually selected according to cell number, cell symmetry and fragmentation for transfer. Many studies have showed the relationship between cell number and embryo developmental potential. However, there is limited understanding of embryo division behavior and their association with embryo cell number and developmental potential.
