Mechanism of canavanine resistance conferred by Any1R175C Any1/Arn1 is an arrestin of the HECT-type E3 ubiquitin ligase Pub1 and regulates amino-acid transporters Aat1 and probably Cat1 by ubiquitylation [26,27]. In S. pombe, ubiquitination of these amino acid transporters causes them to be transported away from the plasma membrane to the Golgi under nutrient-rich conditions [26,27]. Loss of Any1/Arn1 leads to canavanine sensitivity as Cat1 cannot be relocalised from the plasma membrane.
