NatWest was the only bank to finance green companies more than fossil fuel companies over the same period. The report, published by climate think tank InfluenceMap, shows that between 2020 and 2024, the four banks provided £119bn in financing to fossil fuel companies across 1,183 deals. Five oil majors, including ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, Aramco and TotalEnergies, received a combined £24.1bn, accounting for more than 20% of this total.
