Although the prognostic implications of left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy have been well studied, there is the paucity of data on the interaction between hypertension and LV mass in atherosclerotic heart disease, especially in the asymptomatic subclinical phases. The present study in a healthy, asymptomatic Asian population revealed blood pressure (BP) was the strongest risk factor for high LV mass and the presence of coronary artery calcium.
