They offer tunable magnetic properties, enhanced catalytic activity, and structural stability in oxygen evolution reactions. They have shown improved cyclability as anodes in Li-ion battery research when compared to their binary counterparts.

With their high number of chemical substituents, they offer a wide chemical space to explore compared with traditional solid solutions and common semiconductors. They also exhibit magnetic uniformity seldom associated with highly disordered materials.
