Silas Jonathan’s Biography

Silas Jonathan is an accomplished Fact-checker and Researcher at DUBAWA Nigeria, with a degree in Mass Communication from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He is also a distinguished Fellow at the African Institute for Open Source Investigation, where he has contributed significantly to research on information ecosystems in Nigeria and West Africa, particularly in relation to information disorder.
Silas possesses expertise in the use of fact-checking tools for verification and has conducted several consequential fact-checks, earning him a nomination at the 2021 AfricaCheck awards. He is a member of the WHO’S ViralFact alliance and has debunked various COVID-19-related claims while actively participating in initiatives to provide explainers and media literacy articles during the pandemic.
Furthermore, Silas is an active member of the Nigerian Fact-checkers Coalition (NFC), where he has played an integral role in monitoring elections and debunking numerous electoral-related claims. With his exceptional research skills and expertise in fact-checking, Silas Jonathan is an asset to the field of journalism and information verification in Nigeria and beyond.
