1. Introduction Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) is a zoonotic disease caused by Mpoxvirus (MPXV), a double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the Orthopoxvirus genus of the Paxviridae family [1]. Two genetic clades of MPXV have been described: the Central African clade, responsible for a more severe illness, and the West African clade [2].
