1 Introduction The research programme, ‘In the Heart of the Land of Frankincense: Discovering Wādī Andhūr' (hereafter referred to as HELFA), was developed within the broader framework of the DHOMIAP project, which has been operating in Dhofar since 2018. The aim was to clarify the extent to which the archaeological site of Andhūr can be attributed to the South Arabian cultural sphere, its function and chronology.

1 Introduction The Saudi-French Archaeological and Epigraphic Mission to Najrān (MAFSN) has been conducting research in the area since 2007. Initially focused on developing a comprehensive inventory of rock carvings (Arbach et al. 2015; Robin et al. 2022), the mission has recently added the systematic recording of archaeological remains to its objectives.
