1. Introduction Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia, characterized by progressive memory loss and cognitive decline [1]. As aging is the most important risk factor for the development of age-related cognitive impairment and neurodegenerative disorders, the prevalence of AD increases with human life expectancy, reaching 30–40% in people over 85 years of age, and is expected to increase to over 91 million worldwide by 2050 [2].
