1. Introduction and limitations This paper aimed to establish a robust account of agency which can be applied to many kinds of systems, including AI systems. This raises further sub-questions, such as (1) what does it mean to be an agent; and (2) what markers are there to determine an agent? An account of the agency must provide answers to those questions in a generally determinable manner.
