Plans which could give the public less say in what happens in their communities are likely to be discussed in the House of Commons. Reforms to the licensing system could mean that alcohol licences are no longer published in local newspapers and their websites. If enacted, the proposal would mean that plans to open a new pub or nightclub, or for an existing venue to change its opening hours, would no longer be publicised within local communities.

There's loads to do in Great Yarmouth (Image: Simon Murfitt, Newsquest) It’s just gone 8am and with the sun already shining brightly you’ve taken an early walk down to the beach for a quick stroll before breakfast. Save for the odd dog walker it’s more or less deserted. You’re pleasantly surprised by how warm it is and find you have completely misjudged your outfit of jeans, trainers and overshirt.
