An Immigrant’s Mentorship Experience Transitioning Into... : Academic Medicine
To the Editor: Immigrating to another country to practice as a health care professional necessitates courage and faith in the face of uncertainty. Culture shock is an inevitable phenomenon that many individuals experience. As an immigrant health care worker in the United States, I believe in the power of mentorship to overcome the challenges and barriers associated with transitioning to a new health care system and work environment.

Abstract The probability of either testing COVID-19 positive or dying for three cohorts in Madera County, California in 2021 was compared. These cohorts included 1. those unvaccinated, 2. those vaccinated and 3. persons with a previous COVID-19 infection. Project resume has been painful
Maybe this is how it feels for the vast majority of Liverpool fans most of the time, but this isn’t how I want to watch football. I’m sat in the back room with a beer but I’m only half interested in the match, and half interested in whether or not the battery on the laptop will last long enough for me to write this. It probably won’t.

The last day at Goodison Park
I will be devastated when we leave Goodison Park, and as much as I am excited at the prospect of our new ground, the thought of walking out of the big blue gates for the last time fills me with dread. This week, we will see images of a shiny new stadium that Everton will hope to move in to within the next five years, and it’s all very exciting – but there will be an element of sadness too.
It's oh, so quiet...
In 1951, with Everton relegated from the top flight for the last time, Betty Hutton’s B-side to “Murder, he says” prophesied about the summer of 2019 from an Everton perspective like a speakeasy Nostradamus. And when Bjork covered that song in 1995, there were rumours that it was at the request of a six year old Gylfi Sigurdsson, who himself had seen what a start to the summer Everton would have 24 years down the line.
Mina could make Everton debut against Arsenal
Defender Yerry Mina is set to make his Everton debut when the Blues face Arsenal on Sunday. Mina signed from Barcelona in the summer for big money after a successful World Cup in Russia but has been sidelined through injury. Today though he stepped up his return to fitness and rumours are building that he could make his debut on Sunday. Everton have struggled defensively so far this term and Mina would be a welcome boost at the back. arsenal, debut, Everton, Yerry Mina
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in older people with dementia: a systematic review of tolerability
Abstract Background: ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) may be helpful for the management of hypertension, but little is known about its tolerability in people with dementia. Objective: to review the published evidence to determine the tolerability of ABPM in people with dementia. Methods: English language search conducted in MEDLINE and EMBASE, using ‘Ambulatory blood pressure’ AND ‘Dementia’ (and associated synonyms) from 1996 to March 2015.
So these takeover rumours then...
The Times ran an article this morning that has been picked up and carried on by many of the media outlets that Everton are about to be taken over by Americans. The Americans in question are headed by John Jay Moores, worth a reputed $500m, and his mates. John Moores is a name familiar to Evertonians, given the man who also gives his name to a university in the City was responsible for the Blues being known as the Mersey Millionaires during the 1960’s.
Howard Kendall created my Everton
Howard Kendall was the first Everton manager I ever knew of, and the first Everton manager I ever met. Hearing the news today that he has passed away has left me numb. For my generation of Evertonians, Howard Kendall, quite simply, was Everton. By the time I was seven, Kendall was on the cusp of becoming Everton’s most successful manager. I lived in the North East at the time, but would travel to Goodison Park every weekend, at first just with my dad, but later with the supporters group he set up.

The Cube Tube Digital Projector Alarm is very important to me, because I believe by introducing nature back into our living rooms and bedrooms, we create the peace and tranquility lacking in the modern home and work place.
Royle: Martinez needs no advice going into Anfield derby
With the 222nd Merseyside derby taking place tonight at Anfield, NSNO caught up with former Everton player and manager Joe Royle, who has had more than his fair share of experience of beating the reds over the years. We wanted to know what he thought going into the game this evening, and what – if any – advice he would give to Roberto Martinez on his first trip to Anfield as Everton boss.
Osman: New boss' positivity is infectious
Leon Osman has said that the positive outlook brought to Everton by Roberto Martinez is infectious and that he is happy playing whenever he can under the new boss. In our second player interview this week, NSNO caught up with Osman before he appeared at the “Make it Everton” event at Goodison Park, and he told us that he is proud to have played for England, is enjoying playing in the central role for Everton, and wants a new pair of socks for Christmas.
Positivity pleases Hibbert but no contract talk yet
Ahead of this evening’s “Make it Everton” event at Goodison Park, NSNO Editor Simon Paul caught up with right-back Tony Hibbert to ask him how life is at Everton under his third manager. Having made just one League Cup appearance for the Blues this term, Hibbert could be forgiven for taking a purely spectator role, but such is the atmosphere among the squad that instead he is working hard and hoping to regain enough fitness to push for a starting place this season.
Elstone: Baines staying at Everton
Everton CEO Robert Elstone has told Evertonians in the United States that he feels Leighton Baines will stay at Goodison Park despite interest from Manchester United. Elstone was speaking to fans at an event in San Francisco ahead of the mini-tour of the States which could see the Blues playing Real Madrid or AC Milan, as well as Juventus. He said that “we consider the matter closed” when asked whether Leighton Baines would be leaving Everton.
Everton linked with Steven Ireland
Everton have been linked with a move for Aston Villa midfielder and terrible car owner, Steven Ireland, in the press today. The Mirror claims that his £30,000 a week wages won’t put the Blues off bringing him to Goodison Park as the Republic of Ireland international enters the last year of his contract.
Get well soon Kevin Sheedy
Everton legend Kevin Sheedy has been diagnosed with bowel cancer, the club has revealed today. The man with the best left foot of a generation has taken time out from his coaching role at Everton in order to do battle with the illness, but insists he will return to the club once he has recovered. “It’s not ideal but I have to remain positive,” he said. “There is a history in the family.” Sheedy also urged anyone with any concerns for their own health to act quickly.
