Hello, I am Simon Sharwood. I am Asia-Pacific Editor for The Register.

I live in Sydney, Australia.

I've been doing enterprise tech journalism for almost 30 years. I also did a few years in tech PR.

I cover tech news from the Asia-Pacific for the world, and also focus on datacenter technology, especially virtualization, software-defined datacenters, networking, and internetworking.

What was your first job as a journalist?

PC Week Australia, 1995.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. In fact I own a typewriter that belonged to my grandfather. It is a beautiful artefact in a two-tone leather case with a brass zipper.

How is social media changing news?

By decreasing trust in journalism and therefore changing readers' habits
