1 Introduction The rapid evolution of communication technologies, especially the internet of things (IoT), has significantly surpassed the traditional capabilities of environmental sensing systems. The core vision of IoT is to transform ordinary physical objects into intelligent devices by leveraging a broad range of enabling technologies including embedded systems, wireless communication, big data analytics, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI) [1].
