1 Introduction Geopolitical events can have dire economic consequences. Caldara and Iacoviello (2022) show that geopolitical risk (henceforth GPR) shocks have significant adverse effects on economic activity in the US.1 In a study of 44 countries, Caldara et al. (2022) report that GPR shocks lead to higher inflation and can therefore be labeled ‘supply shocks’.
