ABSTRACT This article examines how the Russian academic community has discussed the Bologna Process since 2022, following Russia’s withdrawal and the Bologna Follow-Up Group’s decision to suspend the country from the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The article applies the concept of geopolitical framing to investigate how Russia’s spatial identity, perceived threats, and the motivations behind its exclusion or withdrawal from the Bologna process are constructed in academic discourse.
