1 Introduction The human body harbors a vast and complex population of microorganisms that exceeds the total number of human cells by several orders of magnitude (Sender et al., 2016; Mukherjee et al., 2023). These microorganisms primarily inhabit the interfaces between the body and the external environment, including areas such as the skin, gut, mouth, and vagina (Murray et al., 2007; Silva et al., 2015).
