Extending the technology acceptance model with trust and perceived risk to explain young-old adults’ virtual reality technology adoption
Abstract Virtual reality (VR) technology is a valuable tool to address the evolving needs of young-old adults. This study investigated the factors influencing the adoption of VR technology among young-old adults, extending the technology acceptance model by incorporating trust and perceived risk. Data were collected from 343 respondents aged 60 and above through a structured questionnaire, with structural equation modelling used for data analysis.
Exploring the adoption of wearable physical activity monitoring technology amongst older adults in Hong Kong: a grounded theory approach
Abstract This study explored the attitudes and experiences of older adults who had used Wearable Physical Activity Monitoring Technology (WPAMT) for at least 30 days, identifying factors influencing continued use and discontinuation. Employing grounded theory, face-to-face interviews with 31 older adults in Hong Kong revealed that most participants held positive attitudes towards WPAMT and a willingness to continue using it.
Understanding the influencing factors of slips, trips and falls among construction workers: a bibliometric analysis and scoping review
Abstract The construction industry continues to experience high rates of occupational injuries, with slips, trips and falls (STFs) being the main causes. This study reviewed the current research on construction STFs and identified key influencing factors. A bibliometric analysis of 346 papers (2016–2025) revealed remarkable growth in this research area. Keyword analysis highlighted safety management, fall prevention and risk assessment as the main research focuses.

The dual effects of information presentation speed on operator performance in dynamic tasks: a study in supervisory control and data acquisition interfaces
Abstract Dynamic elements are increasingly used in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) interfaces to deliver real-time information and improve situational awareness. This study examined how information presentation speed affects operator performance, subjective perception, situational awareness, and eye-tracking metrics. Twenty operators performed simulated monitoring tasks under different speed conditions.
Impact of Robot Design Features on Worker-Robot Interaction: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review
Abstract With the advent of Industry 5.0 and the widespread use of robots, worker-robot interaction (WRI) became crucial. However, there was a lack of systematic reviews on the impact of robot design features on WRI. This study aimed to conduct a meta-analysis and systematic review, searching the relevant literature published from 2015 to 2024 in Google Scholar, Taylor & Francis, Scopus, and ScienceDirect.
Understanding Karoshi: A Bibliometric Analysis and Systematic Review of Evidence From 1997 to 2024
Karoshi has become a critical global occupational health and safety concern. This study aimed to analyse Karoshi research through a bibliometric analysis and systematic review using Web of Science and Scopus as data sources. A bibliometric analysis of 324 papers published from 1997 to 2024 was conducted. Subsequently, 83 articles were chosen for the systematic review.

How People from Chinese backgrounds Make Sense of and Respond to the Experiences of Mental Distress: a Qualitative Study
Late presentation and low utilisation of mental health services are common among Chinese populations. An understanding of their journey towards mental health care helps to identify timely and appropriate intervention. We aimed to examine how Chinese populations make sense of the experiences of mental distress, and how this understanding influences their pathways to mental health care. We undertook in-depth interviews with fourteen people with mental health problems and sixteen family members.
