Engineering microbial consortia for distributed signal processing
Abstract A central goal in biology is to infer input signals from measurable readouts. Engineered biosensors are usually built to respond selectively to single inputs, so crosstalk between sensors must be removed through laborious, context-specific orthogonalization. Here we show that multiplexed concentrations can be inferred without eliminating crosstalk.
Cognitive versus Physical Impairment and the Use and Cost of Long-Term Care in Japan
We wish to extend our gratitude for the support rendered to this research. Partial funding has been generously provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology in Japan (Grant No.: 22H00067; PI; Haruko Noguchi). We also acknowledge the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW) for granting authorization to utilize data identified as 1124-3, effective as of November 24, 2022.
SP-DTI: Subpocket-Informed Transformer for Drug-Target Interaction Prediction
Drug–target interaction (DTI) prediction is crucial for drug discovery, significantly reducing costs and time in experimental searches across vast drug compound spaces.
Bridging the Gap between Database Search and De Novo Peptide Sequencing with SearchNovo
Abstract Accurate protein identification from mass spectrometry (MS) data is fundamental to unraveling the complex roles of proteins in biological systems, with peptide sequencing being a pivotal step in this process. The two main paradigms for peptide sequencing are database search, which matches experimental spectra with peptide sequences from databases, and de novo sequencing, which infers peptide sequences directly from MS without relying on pre-constructed database.
Decoding pattern formation rules by integrating mechanistic modeling and deep learning
Abstract Predictive programming of self-organized pattern formation using living cells is challenging in major part due to the difficulty in navigating through the high-dimensional design space effectively. The emergence and characteristics of patterns are highly sensitive to both system and environmental parameters. Often, the optimal conditions able to generate patterns represent a small fraction of the possible design space.
Alkalinity Regulation and Optimization of Cementitious Materials Used in Ecological Porous Concrete
1. Introduction Ecological porous concrete (EPC) is a novel form of a randomly porous concrete construction material that can establish flora symbiosis. Its opening and connecting porosity are generally adjusted in the range of 20–30%. It has several functions, including soil and water conservation, plant restoration, water purification, acoustic noise absorption, and structural protection.

Design and Experimental Research of Knee Joint Prosthesis Based on Gait Acquisition Technology
1. Introduction From a bionic perspective, a qualified prosthetic knee joint can ensure that amputation patients get a steady gait. We need to collect gait data of normal humans and analyze the gait characteristics, and then establish a knee joint prosthesis model to improve the bionic performance of knee joint prostheses. (1) Gait analysis has attracted more and more attention in the fields of rehabilitation medicine [1], identity recognition [2], and prosthetic limb design [3].
