Birthdays bring cake, candles and gifts. They also mean free food, free admission to attractions and discounts from retailers around Phoenix. Some businesses let you just show up and claim the deal. But in most cases, you'll have to show valid government-issued identification, such as a driver's license, with your birth date. It can be hard to fit in all the deals on your actual birthday, but don't worry. Some businesses allow you to redeem a deal any day during your birthday month.

She never questioned her dream. Not once. Aisha Tedros was determined – resolute – to open her own coffee shop. Tedros fulfilled that dream on April 13, 2009, when she opened A.T. Oasis Coffee and Tea in Phoenix. This year brought another landmark: Tedros' coffee shop earned a spot on Yelp’s list of top 100 coffee shops in North America. Tedros worked hard for this. But she’s overwhelmed by and appreciative of the honor.
