1 Introduction Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a chronic autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS), primarily characterized by severe episodes of optic neuritis and transverse myelitis. These features often lead to significant vision loss and motor impairment [1-3]. A hallmark of NMOSD is the presence of antibodies against aquaporin-4 (AQP4), a water channel protein highly concentrated on astrocyte end-feet within the CNS [4, 5].
