Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

Reporter

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Nope

How is social media changing news?

Grabbing more readers and viewers but at same time compromising on ethics

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Cellphone, Digital camera, recorder, laptop, paper and pen. I do editing on kinemaster pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.

What's your favorite social network?

Facebook

Why did you become a journalist?

By chance and then it became my passion.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes. In university I used to report events for our campus bulletin weekly magazine

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

A feature story which I did in Karachi on a 80 years old widow who was tricked and brought from Malaysia to Pakistan by her Pakistani husband. I did a story on her miserable 65 years life in Pakistan and through that story I traced out her family in Malaysia and connected her to the family. She went back to Malaysia after 65 years to see only two of her nieces alive. That was a stunning story and that was the day I felt really proud on myself as a journalist. I still remember that day when she called me to visit her house so that she can say thanks to me. I wish I could have written a book on her life in Pakistan and on the completion of her last wish which was to visit Malaysia and search for her family. The link of the two stories which I did on her is in my portfolio

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Devotion, hardwork and sincerity with your profession

What's your favorite drink?

Water
