Haimy Assefa joined us in New York this spring as a senior video journalist on reporter video, bringing her deep knowledge of culture and video production to collaborate with colleagues across the culture and lifestyle desks. She will produce, edit and publish vertical videos and oversee the work of cinematographers, editors and other collaborators. Before joining The Times, Haimy ran Blue Black Studio, a video and film production company she founded.

Laura joined The Times in 2025 as a video journalist on the Reporter Video team and has produced and edited dozens of videos featuring reporters and photographers that present Times journalism in accessible and creative ways.

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Aritz Parra from senior producer to supervising producer. Since joining The Times in August 2024, Aritz has driven our video storytelling with an infectious enthusiasm and deep commitment to journalistic excellence. His team in London has more than doubled and he oversees work across every video discipline — from daily news and reporter video to field reporting and visual investigations.
