UK lawmakers Thursday asked the country’s tax authority to provide a progress update on tax settlements for people with outstanding loan charge liabilities. His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs should provide the costs of administering the so-called loan charge by July 30, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, chair of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, told tax authority chief executive John-Paul Marks in a letter.

The UK may consider allowing more businesses to use its recently launched advance tax clearance service for big-ticket investments, the country’s tax minister said Thursday. UK Sets Six-Year Record-Keeping Rule for Carbon Border Tax Original

Importers of carbon-intensive goods will be required to keep records for carbon border tax purposes for six years, the UK tax authority said Thursday in detailed guidance. Businesses will be able to claim carbon price relief to reduce their Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism liabilities on imported goods, His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs said, giving details of regulations submitted to Parliament on July 13.
