ABSTRACT Global forest fire regimes are synergistically modulated by topography, anthropogenic activities and climatic change. In the current decade, the Northwestern Himalayas, particularly Uttarakhand, have witnessed an escalation in fire incidence and intensity. The fire regime over this terrain is profoundly influenced by the anisotropic characteristics of meteorology, topography, fuel characteristics and human footprint at an urban level.
