What was your first job as a journalist?

At 8 years old, I launched a neighborhood newspaper called Shadowlake News. I was reporter, writer, editor, ad salesgirl, and delivery girl.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes

How is social media changing news?

By making it harder to decipher between facts and misinformation and supporting echo chambers for people to reinforce their own views.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Provide the public w/ info they need to participate in society & make informed decisions pkg'd in a way that is compelling, honest, impartial

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Computer, internet, phone, video chat platforms, AI, call recording software, transcription software

Why did you become a journalist?

Because I wanted to tell stories

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was the copy-editor on my college newspaper--The Envoy at Hunter College.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

A magazine feature about a man who found his biological father through DTC genetic testing.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Traveling the world
