LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Michigan lawmakers are advancing competing visions for how to fund K-12 schools, with the state Senate proposing a higher spending plan that restructures how aid is distributed, while the House takes a more policy-driven approach with targeted investments and cuts. The Senate’s $22 billion School Aid budget for the 2026 to 27 fiscal year represents a $723.2 million increase, or about 3.4%, over the current year.
