A husband shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself at a Las Vegas nursing home, police said. The Metropolitan Police Department received information around 9 a.m. Sunday of a shooting in a nursing home at the 5800 block of West Sunset Road, near South Jones Boulevard in Spring Valley, according to Lt. Monique Rodriguez. An Advanced Health Care of Las Vegas nursing facility is located at that block.

A man was beaten to death last week after shielding his girlfriend from another man who was upset that she denied him a cigarette outside a Las Vegas food bank, according to an arrest report. The Metropolitan Police Department on Wednesday arrested Shiloh Leutu, 38, in connection with the death of Scott Dennis, 60, on July 9. Police claimed Leutu hit and kicked Dennis’ head and abdomen while Dennis was defending himself against Leutu and another suspect.

SNHD hosts back-to-school vaccination clinics throughout Las Vegas Valley

With the start of school less than one month away, the Southern Nevada Health District is encouraging students to get vaccinated to stay healthy. The health district will host several clinics across the Las Vegas Valley for students entering kindergarten, seventh grade and 12th grade in the lead-up to the first day of school on Aug. 10, the district announced in a press release Wednesday.
