Dana Neuts’s Biography

In every classroom, there is that one kid who loves new school supplies, wants to help the teacher and help her classmates with their work. That same kid is often the one who gets asked to proofread, correct papers or organize groups. That kid is me.

After earning a degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University, I took those skills – and my background in financial services – and turned them into a business. That business, Virtually Yourz, started in 2004 and has grown and evolved over the last nine years.

Writing: I am primarily a freelance writer, writing for publication in the areas of business, finance, insurance, entrepreneurship, community, women’s issues, travel and humor. My work has appeared in The Seattle Times, 425 magazine, South Sound magazine, Seattle Business, Seattle Woman, Seattle Met, GSN: Government Security News, HS Today, American Profile and others. I also own and publish several community websites: iLoveKent.net, iLoveWashington.net and iLoveCovington.com.

Editing: To date, I have edited four nonfiction and one fiction book. I’ve also edited business plans, marketing copy, website copy, white papers and more. If it contains words, I can edit and proofread it.

Marketing: I provide marketing services to small businesses and nonprofits. I specialize in social media marketing; writing marketing copy, ads, ad scripts and press releases; and marketing consultation.

Additional Activities: In addition to my “day job,” I am active in the Kent, Washington community, serving on the board of the Kent Downtown Partnership as the organization’s secretary. I also serve on the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists, as the director for SPJ’s region 10. I am currently running for the office of Secretary/Treasurer in the fall 2012 election.

When I’m not working or volunteering, I enjoy writing for fun, reading, swimming, hiking, golf, camping and spending time with my teenage daughter and our menagerie of pets.
