Spoorthy Raman’s Biography

I am a freelance science journalist based out of Toronto, Canada. For the last five years, I worked as the Founding Managing Editor at Research Matters, a science-news website from India. My beat includes everything science, and I write about published research, features, opinion pieces, science snippets and produce podcasts. I am also a columnist, writing a monthly column called 'Tailspin' talking about my journey with my pet dog and how science can help us raise our pets. My stories have been published in Science Magazine, Research Matters, Deccan Herald, The Print, The Daily Pioneer, Factor Daily and AGU Blogosphere.

I am a recipient of the AAAS EurekAlert! Fellowships for International Science Reporters 2019, and the Asian Scientist Writing Prize, 2017 in the 'Merit Prize' category. I am also a member of the National Association of Science Writers (NASW).
