I'm a media professional who has recently moved back to the Northwest Arkansas as a relocating spouse after having lived in the Northeast for the past four years. Currently I am seeking open to all opportunities in regards to media (freelance, part-time, full-time, etc.) -- especially those revolving around writing and creating original content.
Most recently I served as an Interactive Web Producer at WABC-TV in New York City. During my career I've also worked as an editorial intern at Sports Illustrated Kids, a features writer at the Northwest Arkansas Times and a sports writer for the Muskogee Phoenix. I've worked in many fields of the media spectrum, but my biggest passion is narrative storytelling. During my career, the list of people I've interviewed include everybody from Albert Pujols to Larry the Cable Guy to a woman who learned how to reprogram her brain after being hit by lightning to a teenager determined on building an airplane inside his house.
While studying Interactive Communications at Quinnipiac University, I did a six-part documentary, "I am Steve Schmidt," which explored the challenges of establishing an online identity/brand with a common name in the digital age. It can be viewed through my portfolio site, iamsteveschmidt.com.
